Natural Labor

Sure, natural labor comes with pain, but it is pain with a purpose. A woman’s body was designed to handle childbirth. There are steps to making your labor more enjoyable and less intense. It helps to take a class that discusses ways to handle the pain and learn what to do in various situations. Learn more about Bradley Natural childbirth. (This series of classes is great for getting to know what to expect during labor and birth, however, I personally think you should disregard much of their nutritional advice.)

Here are some ideas to help ease labor discomfort and anxiety:
*Take a shower or bath
*Eat or drink
*Take a walk
*Make last minute preparations for when the baby arrives.
*Practice mental and physical relaxation.
*Take a nap
*Empty your bladder and bowels
*Picture the positive outcome and meeting your baby for the first time.
*Try to ignore the contractions as feasible
*Breath deep into your abdomen
*Stay busy and keep your mind occupied on positive things.

Some of these may seem impossible for you to do, we are all different and things that work for one person may not for another. It’s important to remember to learn our options, take a breath and wait for the moment to come when the baby is ready. Don’t be afraid of natural labor or pain, it’s all worth it in the end and forgotten the moment your newborn is resting in your arms.
