I've been on a raw vegan diet for over six years and dealt with all aspects of this lifestyle. I've tried many avenues, some worked and some compromised my health. I didn't become a raw vegan overnight, it was a process. I lived over ten years with back and muscle pain, stomach and digestive problems, emotional issues, a miscarriage and chronic fatigue. I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The prognosis didn't sound promising... NO CURE, learn to live with it, and here's some anti-depressants (because we doctors know sick people are depressed). This gave me the understanding that something was indeed desperately wrong and it gave me a starting point to research. I didn't want to lay down in pain and die, so I started my journey to change what I could. I read and listened to everyone's ideas and began my transition slowly. First, I removed white sugar from my diet and immediately I was impressed with the way my body reacted. I learned to listen to my body's signals and continued to delete and replace foods in my diet. I became vegetarian, then vegan then a raw foodist. It took willpower especially in social situations but overall it was easy because I saw and felt the results everyday. I've never felt better and I had a very successful raw pregnancy and now have a healthy raw baby. A raw vegan diet consisting of mostly fruits and vegetables with some nuts and seeds is ideal for optimum nutrition.
